Have you ever wondered what to do with those beautiful silk ties that no one is wearing anymore?
Come join us for a fun afternoon of discovery into the world of eco-dying using simple ingredients from your kitchen and your clothes closets. Instructors, Alma Newton (dyer extraordinaire) and clothing designer Anne Kirsten, will take you through the proccesses used to create their one of a kind repurposed artful clothing line at the Assemble boutique shop.
What: Explore the possibilities of non toxic dying methods using mens silk ties. Learn how to transfer prints onto silk and wool fabric. Learn how to over dye your piece with food colouring using similar techniques. Students will come away with a large piece of dyed fine merino wool knit fabric that can be used in many ways!
When: Sunday June 16, 2019, 12 noon to 3 pm
